Manx Harriers athlete, Eve Martin enjoyed a very successful day competing at the North of England Championships at Wavertree on Saturday.
Competing in the U13 Girls age group, Eve began with the long jump in the morning, in which she finished fourth with a distance of 4.23 metres.
This was a little below her best in mixed conditions which included torrential rain at times.
Then in the afternoon she ran in the heats of the 200 metres and finished in second with a time of 27.91 seconds to qualify for the final.

The 800 metres followed a little later in the afternoon, and produced the highlight of Eve’s day.
The two races were held on a time trial basis with the overall fastest times deciding the medals.
Eve won her heat, but the winner of the other race was the British U13 record holder.

She won the silver medal in a new personal best and Isle of Man U13 Girls record time of 2:23.10, beating the previous record of 2:23.90 set by Macy Hillier in 2018.
The final of the 200 metres followed less than ten minutes later, and unsurprisingly Eve was shattered, she finished seventh in a time of 29.37 seconds.
The day was another valuable learning curve for a hugely promising young athlete who is only 12 years of age.
