From animal rescues to multiple car crashes, the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service had an eventful first day of 2025.
Yesterday (January 1) afternoon fire crews assisted a farmer with a horse that had trapped its leg by standing on some piping.
Working alongside a vet who had sedated the animal crews were able to quickly free the horses leg from the piping using small tools.
Eventful New Years Day
Just after 10:30pm last night, fire crews from Douglas were requested to attend a Road Traffic Collision on the Mountain Road near to Kates Cottage.
On arrival crews found a vehicle that was on its roof, the occupants had managed to self-extricate from the vehicle prior to fire service arrival.
Crews made the vehicle safe and were in attendance for approximately 30 minutes.
This was not the only RTC on the Mountain Road last night, as crews from Ramsey responded to a crash just at 11pm in the Gooseneck area.
Ramsey crews were faced with another car that was on its roof, and again, the occupants had managed to exit the vehicle.
First aid was performed for minor injuries until the casualties were handed over to the Ambulance service.
Cold Weather Warning
It has been a busy start to the year for the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service and with the predicted cold weather coming in likely to make driving conditions difficult.
The emergency services would like to encourage drivers to drive to the conditions and take extra caution when driving on icy roads.
A yellow weather warning for ice remains in place until 3pm today.
