Locate Isle of Man, in collaboration with PwC Isle of Man, has created a series of ‘connection’ events for new and old islanders.
The series of events has been created to help individuals to settle in, make new friends, as well as retaining current islanders.
Connecting on Island
The relocation event series offers people an opportunity to meet others in similar situations, and start building their social and professional networks.
With a range of activities, from walks to wine tasting, the events are open to everyone, many of which are family friendly.
The connection events are about bringing young professionals together every other month, and support Locate Isle of Man’s broader aim, to attract and retain graduates and young people.
Attendees are able to network in an informal setting, develop new connections and chat to like-minded people.
Many of the new events are free to attend, providing a relaxed, inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone to enjoy.
Retaining Islanders
Ann Corlett MHK, Political Member for Locate Isle of Man, said: “Attracting and retaining skilled professionals is essential for the Isle of Man’s long-term economic success as signalled in the Economic Strategy and Island Plan.
“We know that relocating or returning to the island can at times be isolating, and these events are critical in ensuring that individuals feel part of the community from day one.
“By offering an opportunity to meet and connect, we are helping people to build relationships, which makes the transition to island life, smoother and more enjoyable.”
