Onchan MHK Rob Callister has accused Ramsey colleague Lawrie Hooper MHK of crossing the line and undermining respect in Tynwald.
Mr Callister’s remarks follow an article referencing comments by Infrastructure Minister Dr Michelle Haywood MHK.
The DoI Minister said she would not tolerate abuse, including the use of clown emojis, directed at politicians.
No More Clowns
In response to Manx.News’ article, Mr Hooper had suggested that “if only we could remove all clowns from Tynwald”.
Mr Callister said that while MHKs should expect criticism when making difficult decisions, Mr Hooper’s post “absolutely oversteps the mark”.
“Unfortunately, too often during this administration, it seems you either agree with Mr Hooper and his single vision for the Isle of Man, or you become his target,” Mr Callister said.
He added that Mr Hooper should reflect on his own performance over the past four years before referring to fellow members as “clowns”.

Mr Callister stressed that politics should focus on ideas, collaboration and public service, rather than personal attacks.
He said elected members have a responsibility to uphold high standards of respect and integrity, both in public and online.
“Disagreement is healthy in a democracy, but it should never cross the line into abuse or hostility,” he said, adding that MHKs have a duty to lead by example and promote constructive dialogue.
He also acknowledged that politicians must accept public criticism of their decisions, describing this as an unavoidable aspect of island politics.
