A family impacted by a recent emergency has criticised Bride Parish Commissioners after it voted to remove a defibrillator.
Last night the local authority said the machine would be removed after abuse suffered by commissioners and volunteer guardians after it was found to be out of action when needed during a recent emergency.
Responding to this decision, the family involved branded it a “shameful action” and “a deflection from a systematic failure”.
In a statement, the family said: “In taking this decision, the Commissioners have not acted in the best interests of the Parish, it’s residents and all those who visit our lovely village.”
Logical
They added: “A logical solution would have been to outsource maintenance, ensuring the community defibrillator is available to save life 24/7, 365 days a year.
“The Commissioners have a responsibility to listen to feedback, regardless of whether it is something they do or do not want to hear. As a family, we have personally thanked everyone who provided assistance.”
The family also outlined a catalogue of errors, by several parties, which led to the device being out of service.
