Fire Crews Called to Controller Burnout

Fire Crews attended a property in Port St Mary on Saturday evening following reports of smoke and a chemical smell.

The incident occurred shortly after 6pm on Saturday.

Appliances from Rushen and Douglas, along with a Duty Officer, responded to the call. Due to the initial information, a HazMat Officer was also requested to attend.

On arrival, crews confirmed the presence of several items on charge, including two motorbikes connected to maintenance chargers, e-bikes, and an RC car.

A breathing apparatus team used a thermal imaging camera to locate the source, which was identified as a burnt-out RC controller.

Firefighters ensured no further fire spread had occurred and ventilated the property. There were no reports of injuries.
