Crews from Douglas Fire Station attended Manx Petroleum’s site on Battery Pier this morning as part of a joint training exercise.
The crews utilised the 42 metre Turn Table Ladder (TL) to extricate a casualty who had been ‘rescued’ from a confined space by Manx Petroleum’s specially trained staff.
A Fire and Rescue Service statement said: “The TL ensured the casualty was taken to a place of safety quickly and efficiently by lifting them over a wall from a tight space; this collaborative approach produced a more casualty focused route of exit whilst simultaneously reducing risk of injury to rescuers who would have otherwise had to carry the casualty out and navigate obstacles.”
“Upon successful completion of the scenario our TL operators demonstrated the capabilities of the appliance to reach other risk areas on site.”
