Plans have been submitted to convert the Seaview Hotel on Empress Drive into a house in multiple occupancy (HMO).
The former hotel could be converted into a 27 bed house under plans submitted Elliott Homes.
Its application says the company “seeks to bring a vacant property back into active use delivering professionally managed, high-standard housing in a sustainable town centre location”.
Of the 27 rooms, 25 bedrooms will be fully en-suite, while the remaining two will contain private shower and handwashing facilities, with access to a shared WC located on the same landing.
The application says: “To support communal living, the development will include three well-equipped kitchens and three dedicated living rooms. These shared facilities will be appropriately distributed throughout the building to ensure no resident is more than two floors away from a kitchen or lounge area.”
The former hotel was named in an investigation into a massive international organised crime operation run by Chinese criminals, though there is no suggestion that anyone there was aware of any illegal activities taking place on the premises.
