St Georges, the most successful Manx team this century will play in Division Two next season after their relegation was confirmed on Saturday.

Defeat at Ramsey left Geordies four points behind Onchan with just one game left, meaning they join Marown in falling through the trap door.

Geordies lost 6-3 at Ballacloan, while Onchan were beaten by champions in waiting Peel 4-2 at Douglas Road.

Onchan posted on their Facebook page: “The O’s are officially safe and we will playing in the Premier League again next season.

“Huge achievement for the club as it’s the first time we have stayed in the premier league in 60+ years.”

Peel for their part will need a point to secure their second league title in three years as Foxdale could still mathematically catch them with their seven games in hand.

The other game in the top flight saw Laxey draw 1-1 with Corinthians.

Division Two

In the second division, Colby beat rivals Malew 9-1 at Station Fields while Governor’s beat Castletown 4-1 at Noble’s Park.

Colby’s Combi side was also celebrating on Saturday as they were presented with the Combi Two trophy by league sponsors Ardern & Druggan.
