With Christmas now only 24 days away, party season is well underway, as are many Manx Christmas events and experiences.
Everyone does things a wee bit differently, and my Christmas traditions will no doubt vary greatly to yours.
For me Christmas started on November 3 when I set the task of watching Harry Potter on a Sunday evening and the Deathly Hallows part two would fall on the last Sunday before Christmas.
Festive Events
Although I still partake in an annual pilgrimage to Andreas Christmas Trees and select an utter work of art a few weeks before the big day, my social events have somewhat changed.
In my youth I organised the twelve pubs of Christmas and drank my sorrows along the quay on December 23, however times have changed.
I can no longer drink 12+ pints of Okells finest, and shall now be opting for a Christmas themed evening at the Wine Cellar.
As that evening will undoubtedly sign me off from touching vino for a good few weeks, I will be venturing to events that don’t have drinking at the centre.
On December 11, I will be getting my passport out and heading south to the Erin Arts Centre to watch A Christmas Carol: A Live Radio Play.
Christmas Spirit
If theatre is your jam, don’t forget Stage-Ed’s annual Christmas pantomime.
This year, you SHALL go to the ball as the Gaiety Theatre invites you to the world’s most beloved pantomime with fairy tale favourite Cinderella!
Cinderella will run at the Gaiety from December 19 until December 31 – tickets are available here.
Want to entertain the little ones? Kids on the Rock have you covered with The Manx Family Centre’s Christmas Disco on December 22 from 3pm to 6pm.
Obviously, the main event this Christmas.. the 2025 Isle of Man Young Farmers Tractor Run which starts this weekend!
