Glover Tops Onchan as Voters Return Callister for Third Term

Rachel Glover and Rob Callister have been elected to the House of Keys for Onchan, following Thursday night’s Isle of Man General Election.

Glover topped the poll with 1,245 votes, while Callister secured the second seat with 1,103 votes. Turnout in the constituency was 50.6%.

Julie Edge finished third with 866 votes, followed by Peter Karran (Liberal Vannin) on 738 and Gabriella Corkish on 725. Oliver Lockwood received 50 votes.

Government Reform

Glover’s manifesto places a strong emphasis on government spending, transparency and improving public services, with a focus on delivering measurable results rather than further reviews and strategies.

She has called for reductions in government administration costs while protecting frontline services, alongside greater transparency around departmental spending and the time spent by civil servants on projects.

On the economy, Glover wants to remove barriers facing businesses and encourage growth in sectors such as biotechnology, artificial intelligence and data.

On health and social care, Glover has called for greater transparency around waiting lists and a full financial audit of Manx Care if it seeks additional funding. She has also outlined support for reforming how people pay for care in later life.

Third Term For Callister

Callister was first elected as Onchan MHK in 2016 and was re-elected in 2021. He served as Minister for the Department of Health and Social Care in 2022.

His re-election means he will return to the House of Keys for a third consecutive term.

Felloe MHK from last term Julie Edge was unsuccessful in her bid for re-election, receiving 866 votes.

Edge had represented Onchan since 2016 and previously served as Minister for Education, Sport and Culture.
