Good News for Travelling Patients

Manx Breast Cancer Support Group says the owners of Liverpool airport has agreed to support patient transfers while it carries out its major refit of the departure lounge.

There had been concerns about the loss of a quiet room which is used by patients travelling from Liverpool to allow them somewhere to sit without being in the main lounge.

The airport had agreed to a temporary arrangement and committed to a new setup that would be available to Manx patients when it finished its renovations.

Carole Male said that the group met with the airport this week and they confirmed that the present quiet room will be in use until the new temporary one is ready for use.

She added: “The temporary room is already a great improvement on what we have now and is also close to toilet facilities and various shops which sell food and drink etc.

“We will be informed of the timescale for change soon and let you all know.

“The temporary one will then be signposted and be there for us all to use until the new one is built.

“This will again be close to the facilities we need and a great improvement on what we have at present. Big thank you to Liverpool Airport for considering our patients needs and providing this for us all.”
