Gov Paying Monty £20k as ‘Ambassador’

Monty Halls has been made an ‘ambassador’ for the Isle of Man at a cost of £20,000 to the government.

The Ambassadorial role and partnership agreement will last for twelve months.

The marine biologist and TV broadcaster has made several visits to the island as part of work to raise awareness of marine conservation.

A freedom of information request revealed Monty’s two visits to the island have cost £2,436.83.

His ambassadorial role also hopes to highlight the island’s UNSECO Biosphere status and raising awareness that the Isle of Man is a ‘year round destination’ for visitors.

Halls participated in the ‘Extraordinary Isle‘ video for Visit IOM, in which he was not paid ‘specifically’ for the part.

Charlie Morrey is a Broadcast & Multi Media Journalist for Manx.News and also is a Presenter on Energy FM. Charlie has previously written for Isle of Man Newspapers, magazines and also started her broadcasting career with Manx Radio.
