Thomas Harwood has been sworn in as the Lieutenant Governor’s Cadet for the next year.
The ceremony was held during the Cadet’s Awards and Investiture at Government House.
Sir John also thanked his outgoing cadets, Orla Goddard SCC and Chloe Dillon SJA, for all their hard work and dedication through the last year.
Among the awards presented was a certificate of meritorious service for veterans, presented to 102-year-old James Fenton.
Retirement
The final award of the evening was presented to Major Alan O’Flanagan MBE as he retires from the role of Commandant of the IOM Army Cadet Force.
Sir John praised Major O’Flanagan for his dedicated service over a period of more than 50 years and wished him well for a long and happy retirement.
Government House said: “This ceremony is one of the highlights of His Excellency’s calendar, as it was the first major event which he hosted, when he was first sworn in as Lieutenant Governor of the IOM in 2021.”
