Ramsey Town Band has received a £10,370 grant to buy new junior instruments and modern, lightweight cases, helping the group welcome more young musicians.
The funding from Manx Lottery Trust will assist in replacing worn student level instruments and expand the band’s stock so beginners and intermediate players have access to better quality equipment.
The new cases will also make it easier for younger members to carry their instruments safely and comfortably.
Band representative Salvatore Ruffino said the support would make a “huge boost” to its work with young players.

“This grant means we can provide better‑quality instruments for our younger members and ensure new players can get started with the right equipment,” he said.
The award was made through the Trust’s Community Awards Programme, which funds projects that strengthen community life across the Island.
Manx Lottery Trust chairman David Christian said the band was doing “fantastic work” to bring music to young people and that the new instruments would improve both comfort and confidence for players.
Grants of up to £50,000 are available through the programme for community, culture, wellbeing, education and youth initiatives.
