A field of 40 runners turned out for the annual Steve Jacobs Mile, marking the 30th anniversary of Steve’s passing and, for the first time, taking place on the NSC roadway rather than the track.
The milestone added extra poignancy to an event that remains one of the most cherished fixtures on the local athletics calendar.
Steve, known to everyone as Shakey, was a hugely popular figure in Manx sport, and the continued presence of the Jacobs family is a reminder of the impact he made.
As ever, his parents Arnie and Margaret made the journey to attend, their commitment reflecting how deeply the race is woven into the family’s story.
On the results front, Tracy McQuillan retained her handicap title for the second consecutive year, with Chandre Boshoff taking second and Ray Shooter third.
Fastest on the road was Tim Perry, while Joanne Schade claimed honours as the quickest female competitor.
