GSC Warns Over Fake Licensed Gambling Sites

The Isle of Man’s Gambling Supervision Commission (GSC) has issued a public warning after becoming aware of a number of websites falsely suggesting they are licensed and regulated by the authority.

The regulator says some sites have been displaying copies of gambling licences and regulatory information in a misleading way, apparently to create the impression they are operating under a valid Isle of Man licence.

The GSC says it has taken action to have the websites removed and is reminding consumers that gambling licences are issued to specific operators and approved domain names.

It warns that the presence of a licence document or the Isle of Man Government crest on a website does not automatically mean it is authorised by the Commission.

Consumers are being urged to check whether an operator holds a valid licence before using a gambling website and to report suspected fraud to police and their bank or payment provider.

Anyone who identifies a website falsely claiming to be licensed by the GSC, or becomes aware of unlicensed gambling activity linked to the Isle of Man, is encouraged to contact the Commission’s Enforcement and Intelligence Division.
