Gymnasts Claim Six Medals

The island’s gymnasts have won six medals on a highly successful morning at the Island Games in Orkney.

Taking one gold, three silvers and two bronze, it puts the island second in the medal table medals the Faroe Islands.

Harry Eyres completed a clean sweep of medals as he took one gold, one silver and one bronze.

Teenager Eyres took gold on the high bar and a silver on the floor with Ewan McIlraith and Fraser McKenna also claiming silvers rings and vault respectively.

The two bronze medals went to Leon Martin on the parallel bars and Eyres claiming his third medal this time on the vault.

Elsewhere around the games, the Badminton side will compete later today in the bronze medal game while both the women’s and mens football teams are also in action, as are the athletics stars and swimmers, amongst others.
