Haemodialysis Patient Numbers Rising

The average number of patients receiving haemodialysis on the island has increased steadily over the past three years, Health Minister has confirmed.

The information was revealed following a written question from Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse.

Monthly data taken from the first week of each month shows annual averages rising from 37.5 patients in 2023/24 to 43.1 in 2024/25, and 48.0 in 2025/26.

Minister Claire Christian MHK said patient numbers fluctuate throughout the year due to admissions, discharges and changes in treatment type.

A review of records also identified five patients over the same three‑year period who had been receiving dialysis outside the island before starting treatment locally.
