Hassan Patel has presented Mannin Cancer Support Group with a check for £1,000.
He collected donations while running 5KM a day through Ramadan, 30 days of fasting, earlier this year.
Hassan, who runs Onchan’s Post Office with wife Hafswa, wanted to raise money for the charity as it is a cause that’s close to his family having lost a brother to cancer.
He said: “People were very generous and very supportive of Mannin Cancer. There was lots of support during the month, people waving and horn peeping.
“I personally enjoyed the challenge and desire to raise the money for a great cause. My target was £500 and we smashed that with the £1,000. Thank you for your generous support.”
Having completed most of his runs around Onchan and Douglas, Hassan completed his final run in Preston’s Moor Park, ending at Deepdale stadium, while visiting his parents to celebrate Eid.
He told Manx.News: “To mark the end of Ramadan, what better way to finish my last 5K run in my home town of Preston.”
