Islanders are being asked to share their views for potential laws to help and support homeless people on the Isle of Man.
A consultation has launched today to develop the principles for an Isle of Man Homelessness Prevention and Support Act.
The Cabinet Office is delivering the consultation on behalf of the Housing and Communities Board.
Those with an interest in the consultation have ten rather than eight weeks to respond because of the Christmas holiday period. The deadline to submit feedback is February 25 2026.
The consultation considers homelessness legislation in England, Wales and Scotland and wants opinions on how this might be applied here.

Minister for the Cabinet Office and Chair of the Housing and Communities Board, David Ashford, said: “This is an important first step towards placing legislation to address and support homelessness on the statute book.
“We are using legislation in the UK as a starting point for discussion, our own legislation will need to be tailored to the needs of our community.”
Feedback from the public will help to shape policy proposals which will be sent to ministers by the end of March 2026.
It is anticipated that any legislation would be introduced into Tynwald Branches after the next election, subject to the wishes of the new administration.
