Heavy Rain Later

Authorities are warning of a wet night to come with heavy rainfall expected across the island later today.

As a result, Ronaldsway Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning from 5pm this evening until 3am on November 15.

That heavy rain is expected to arrive from the south on Friday evening, turning heavy at times with totals of 10 to 20mm widely and up to 25 to 30mm in some areas.

This may cause surface water flooding where the ground is already saturated or drains are blocked.

Strong east–northeast winds are also forecast, reaching gale force in places with gusts of 45–55mph. Minor damage is possible and fallen leaves and branches may add extra hazards on the roads.

The Police said: “Please take extra care if you are travelling, allow more time for journeys, and drive according to the conditions. Watch out for standing water, debris, and reduced visibility.”
