The hotly contested World Bonnag Championships took place last week, and the judge this year commented on the high standard that was set by competitors.
With 41 entries, the esteemed Bonnag judge, Tony Quirk, had to work hard for his supper!
The judging was no easy task for Quirk, who says he had to make some hard decisions to reach his final judgement.

This years winners are as follows:
- Child: Christopher Crompton- Heavey
- Commercial: Winner – Greens
- Highly recommend- The Dovecote tearooms
- Gents: Gordon Clague
- Ladies and winner of the tittle World Bonnag Champion: Jane Richardson
Entertainment
The evenings entertainment was hosted by Dot Tilbury who brought a diverse cast who included the winning act from the Young Farmers Concert performed by Central Young Farmers.
Cheques were presented to the last years Charities, Arlo’s Adventure and Hands of Hope.
The Friends of St James also announced its next event as being the hugely popular May Day Fair on Bank holiday Monday, May 6.
