More than 25,000 passenger journeys have been made on the 8/8S bus route since its launch last summer.
Passenger numbers peaked early, with 1,994 journeys recorded in the route’s second week.
However, usage has since stabilised, consistently ranging between 500 and 800 passengers per week from October 2025 onwards.
In response to our FoI, the DoI said: “As an average day, on a school day operational week, it costs approximately 469.96.”
It noted that operating hours are adjusted “to maintain efficiency” on non-school days.
The total cost of establishing and running the service up to the end of December was £80,969.
