Figures from the Treasury reveal that 676 working-age residents receive social security benefits totalling more than a full-time minimum wage salary.
The data, provided in response to a question from Onchan MHK Julie Edge, shows the cost of these benefits was £341,936.91 per week as of November 5.
A full-time minimum wage salary was defined as £400.01 per week after tax and NI.
Of those individuals, 587 were receiving income support plus other benefits, at a cost of £299,002.31 per week.
A further 60 were on Employed Person’s Allowance with other benefits, costing £28,799.15 weekly.
The figures exclude pensioners, but separately identify 1,289 individuals of state pension age whose benefits, including state pension, exceeded the threshold.
The weekly cost for this group was £757,695.03. A further 27 working-age care home residents also received over £400.01 per week in support.
