Davison’s has announced that it will be closing its parlour on Peel promenade early for the next few weeks.
Dit said the major factor behind business on the prom being “really quiet at the minute”.
The change means the parlour will be open from 10am to 3pm during the week, staying open as normal until 5pm.
Acknowledging that some will be upset that it is closing before school’s close, the business said this is currently the quietest time of day and say it is “just not financial viable” to remain open after 3pm.
Greig Davison said: “98% of all other ice cream businesses shut during the winter for this reason, however we have always tried to stay open to provide a service to those visiting Peel, and this will only be for a short period of time.
“Hopefully,
we will be able to revert back to normal from February half term.
“We apologise for any issues this may cause to anyone but like other hospitality businesses on the Island it’s unfortunately a sign of the times we are currently living in, a very difficult trading environment with rising costs, a shortage in labour and down turn in customer spend.
“Again hopefully this will only be for the short term. Many thanks Greig and all the team.”
