In her Badminton debut, the Isle of Man’s Yasmin Ingham is positioned in 4th place after the opening phase, Dressage.
The 27 year old is the reigning Eventing World Champion and this is her first appearance at the CCI5* event on the iconic Badminton Estate in Gloucestershire.
Paired with her 15-year old bay gelding “Rehy DJ”, known in the stable as ‘Piglet’, Ingham’s dressage score was 29.1
Speaking to Manx.News, Ingham said that dressage isn’t her partners best phase, but despite that, Piglet was “amazing today”.
Ingham told Manx.News’ Charlie Morrey that Piglet was really obedient and delivered a smooth test, but “the best is yet to come with the jumping”.
Ingham said that there is a big weekend ahead with lots of jumps, Saturday being the grueling cross-country and Sunday’s final phase of showjumping.
Ingham’s aim is to get through the next two phases staying as close to the dressage score as possible.
Cross Country is ‘Enormous’
The Cross Country is ‘enormous’ said Ingham, “I’ve been coming to watch for many years; it’s really exciting and it is as enormous as it looks, I am nervous but excited to give it a go, but mostly all to enjoy it “

The Badminton Horse Trials is a five-day event, one of only seven annual Concours Complet International (CCI) Five Star events as classified by the Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI). It takes place in May each year in the park of Badminton House, the seat of the Duke of Beaufort in South Gloucestershire, England.
Standings at the end of day 1 shows the Manx Sportswoman of the Year in 4th position, with her fellow Team GB and Olympic champion Tom McEwen siting in pole.
