Manx eventer Yasmin Ingham says she is taking “plenty of learning” from a challenging but valuable weekend at Thoresby Park International.
Ingham competed Goliath Du Loir (Gogo), Gypsie Du Loir (Gigi) and Joli Coeur Menjoulet across the Grantham Cup CCI4*S and Novice sections.
Ingham described the weekend as “not our best on paper”, noting “the tiniest of blips” with both Gogo and Gigi, but praised all three horses for their efforts over what she called a “very tough” cross‑country track.
Grantham Cup
Goliath Du Loir finished 18th in the Grantham Cup Section H on a score of 50.3. A “spicy” dressage test left the pair on 37.9 penalties, followed by four faults in the show jumping and 8.4 time penalties across country.
Gypsie Du Loir placed 35th in the same section on 79.6. The mare produced a strong dressage mark of 27.6 leaving her in second place after the first phase, but picked up penalties in both jumping phases.
Ingham said Gigi “tried so hard to get between the flags” after jumping off a bank “a little too steep”, adding that both horses made a demanding track “feel mostly easy”.
Joli Coeur Menjoulet completed the Novice in 23rd place on a score of 64.4, with a 23.8 dressage, four show‑jumping faults and 21.6 time penalties across country.
Reflecting on the weekend, Ingham said the sport’s “small margins and lightning‑fast reactions” can be decisive at this level, adding: “It doesn’t go to plan all of the time, so we’ll learn and come back stronger. There’s still so much to be proud of.”
She thanked her team, owners and sponsors, saying she remains “grateful to be steering these two champs to hopefully very exciting things to come this season”.
