In a data-driven study comparing airports, Isle of Man Airport has exceeded many expectations by being named the 17th best airport in the UK.
The study by the Telegraph has compared airports across the United Kingdom – taking into account punctuality, passport queues and parking charges.
Telegraph Travel has taken the 30 busiest British airports and assigned each a score based on almost 40 metrics.
Not the Best
The Isle of Man finished in 17th place out of the 30 and beat many of its competitors on airport parking and the lack of drop off fee.
Surprisingly, the local airport finished mid-field in the most and least on-time airports, beating all London airports having scored 68.6% for flights being on-time in 2024.
It also finished mid-table for the hardest and easiest airports to reach – now, this shouldn’t be too difficult given the size of our wee isle.
However, that’s where the good news ends.. the next section was connectivity, where the island was fifth from the bottom of the table with its lack of connectivity to other countries and few destinations served.
The top ten is as follows:
- Liverpool John Lennon
- George Best Belfast City
- London City
- London Heathrow
- Newcastle International
- London Gatwick
- Birmingham
- Inverness
- Aberdeen International
- Jersey
