The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture (DEFA) has taken the decision not to hold the Isle of Man food and drink festival this year.
The department says ‘whilst this news will disappoint some’, it has decided to use the budget to drive new initiatives that will promote and support local producers in ‘exciting new ways’.
DEFA’s ‘exciting new ways’ include:
• An increased presence at the Southern and Royal Manx Agricultural Shows;
• New events that will provide food businesses with the opportunity to showcase their products to on and off-Island food buyers;
• An enhanced guide to showcase Manx produce.
DEFA says it is also collaborating closely with the Department for Enterprise (DfE) to explore further opportunities for the year ahead and continues to offer a range of grants to help local food and drink businesses to develop of succeed.
