A butcher in Kirk Michael has branded Isle of Man Meats as a “shambles” following delays in getting Manx meat.
Lee Mayers Butchers has been left with no choice other than to buy UK meat following delays from the government owned IOM Meats.
The butcher said he has had to turn customers away as he’s been receiving his orders from IOM Meats later than requested, which wasn’t leaving him with enough time to prepare the meat for sale.

He also said that the delivery boxes he was receiving from IOM Meats had “next to nothing” in them.
Lee Mayers said: “Unfortunately I will be bringing the majority in from uk again not because I want too but if they are struggling to meet suppliers orders now what is gonna happen at Christmas peak time!”
He said he is not “not willing to take the risk”, but insisted he would still buy Manx produce where he can, but when IOM Meats “buck their ideas up”.
He added: “I don’t think it’s fair that local butchers are taking the flack for not meeting orders when it’s simply because we are not getting it when required.”
