The Patrick Crookall Middle Distance Triathlon returned to Ramsey, with athletes tackling the 70.3‑mile course in memory of Patrick Crookall.
The event was organised by Manx Tri Club and sponsored by Ramsey Crookall in support of Isle Listen.
Competitors faced a 1.9km swim, 90km bike ride and 21.1km run, with warm conditions and a large crowd creating a lively atmosphere around Mooragh Park.
Strong Women’s Field
The standout performance of the day came from Clara Isaac, who not only won the women’s race but also secured third place overall. She finished in 4:57:02, breaking the five‑hour mark and delivering one of the strongest middle‑distance results seen locally in recent years.
There was depth throughout the women’s field. Amber Carridge took second in the Senior Women’s category and finished 10th overall in 5:33:20, while Carly Craig topped the Veteran Women 40–49 division in 5:35:26.
Sophie Acton (5:39:05) and Lily Heron (5:40:21) also produced strong runs to round out the leading group.
Read in Control
In the men’s race, James Read controlled proceedings from the front. He crossed the line in 4:42:36, finishing more than eight minutes clear of the rest of the field.
Kristan King took second overall and won the Vet 40–49 category in 4:51:14, while Gareth Gawne finished fourth in 5:07:12. Endurance stalwart Andrew Roche claimed fifth overall and first Vet 50–59 in 5:12:15.
The relay competition was led home by Nearly the NSC, Jessica Cain, Gianni Epifani and Jordan Cain, who took the Mixed Teams win and were the first team overall.
The club paid tribute to the marshals, kayakers and volunteers who supported athletes throughout the course.
