Isle of Pride has announced its relaunch, with several events already planned to support and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community.
After facing closure in 2022, the charity appointed a new board in September 2024.
In a statement, the charity said: “Given the context of the current political climate around the world, it is vital that people of marginalised communities have a voice and representation.
“Now more than ever, the LGBTQ+ community must stand together, along with our allies, to protect the rights so hard fought for.”
The charity confirmed it is working with Extra Fancy Ltd. and Heron & Brearley on the ‘Pride on the Quay’ event, set for August 30 on North Quay in Douglas.
A relaunch event with partners is also planned for September, with a major Pride event expected to return in 2026.
Isle of Pride is also developing ‘Chree’ (Manx for ‘Heart’), a year-round outreach programme offering education, training, and safe spaces.
The charity stated: “It is our vision that Chree will bring more awareness and inclusion for our community and will bring us closer to creating an Island society in which no LGBTQ+ person feels alone.”
Director James Cherry, said: “With the board and newly formed committee, who I am delighted have come onboard, we look forward to supporting and working with the Island’s LGBTQ+ community through events and the championing principles of equality and inclusion.”
