Jo Hamilton is going to run the London Marathon in 2026 to raise funds for Pancreatic Cancer Action, following the loss of a close friend.
Jo, a compliance manager at the Boston Multi Family Office, will take on the 26.2-mile challenge for the “deeply personal” cause.
She decided to run after her friend, Alan, passed away from the disease on the day of the London Marathon in April 2025.
Jo said: “On the day of the London Marathon 2025, I lost one of my very favourite people, Alan, to pancreatic cancer. It was a cruel twist of fate—while thousands were running through the streets of London, Alan’s incredible life came to an end.
Family
“Alan was more than a friend. He was family, he had incredible knowledge of all things dog, horse, bird and countryside and had superhuman strength.
“Losing him has left a space in my life that can never be filled. But it’s also lit a fire in me to do something meaningful in his memory.
“Please let’s do this for Alan. Let’s do this for everyone still fighting. Let’s make a difference.”
Boston said it was “incredibly proud” of Jo and added: “If you’ve got any lonely 1ps or 2ps hanging around, Jo’s jar is waiting at reception. Every coin helps—and every step she takes will be in memory of Alan and in support of those fighting pancreatic cancer.”
