The island’s fire service has bid a fond farewell to firefighter Jonathon Cover.
Jonathon, who retires from Peel Fire Station, provided an incredible 29 years of loyal and dedicated service.
Having joined the Fire & Rescue Service in 1996, Jonathon was, until his retirement, was the second longest-serving firefighter at Peel Fire Station.
The Service said: “Over the years, he has amassed a wealth of operational experience and has always been generous with his time, supporting and developing newer firefighters on station, always with his legendary smile.
“Throughout his career, Jonathon regularly provided more than 140 hours per week of on-call availability and played a vital role in maintaining the availability of a fire appliance in the West of the island.
“On Wednesday evening, colleagues at Peel Fire Station took the opportunity to thank Jonathon for his exceptional and long-standing contribution to the Fire & Rescue Service, and to wish him and his family a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy, and well-earned retirement.”
