After nine years, Paul and Tiffany Kerruish are both leaving The Fynoderee Distillery.
Fynoderee will continue under the management and ownership of its financial investors.
Tiffany announced the news on social media saying that it was not what either her or Paul wanted.
She said: “We are gradually coming to terms with what has happened to us and trying to reflect back positively on the incredible adventure and learning journey it has been – from ‘starting up’ in the garage at the back of our house, posting out our bottles of gin from our dining room table with ‘help’ from a couple of young toddlers and a very interested cat, to the much-loved Manx business it had become.”

She added: “Unfortunately for us, the harsh financial realities of operating a craft distillery and hospitality business on our fair Isle are relentless, especially one as complex as what Fynoderee had become.
“It’s a shame that we couldn’t match our deep passion for the brand and acquired knowledge of craft spirit production with the deeper pockets we needed to financially hold on to our position.
“As much as we are renowned for telling a gritty Manx folktale, the terms of our ‘parting’ don’t allow us to divulge any backstory to our exit – suffice to say we are not the first and we will certainly not be the last original founders to find themselves the leading character in their own tale of woe.
“Now, a version of The Fynoderee Distillery will continue without us, and it will be fascinating to watch what the new management does with our legacy.”
