King William’s College is celebrating a superb set of GCSE/IGCSE results, with Year 11 students achieving an overall pass rate of 90% (9-4 or A*-C).
Of these, 23% were at 9/8 or A* and 41% at 9-7 or A*/A.
Excluding the Covid years, this is the highest pass rate since 2019, and for top grades, it matches 2024 as the best set of results since 2016.
Full Academic Colours
Nine students have earned Full Academic Colours in this year’s GCSE results, the award is given to those who achieved straight A*/A or 9-7 grades, with a minimum of five grades at A*/8.
Those students are Charles A, Gnaan D, June F, Daisy M, Ameya M, Brodie M, Ro N, William O and Casey-Rae P.
These excellent results follow on from the International Baccalaureate (IB) successes of the Upper Sixth (Year 13) earlier in the summer, where students achieved a strong overall average of 31.5 points (from a maximum of 45), with two students scoring over 40 points.
Top Grades
Principal Damian Henderson said: “Congratulations to the KWC students who displayed tremendous focus and tenacity to achieve these most pleasing GCSE grades. We saw more top grades this year than in any year since 2016, discounting the two years of the pandemic.
“It is particularly gratifying to see how well students who joined us during Year 11 have done, as well as those who overcame personal adversity. Many of our students also have distinctive accomplishments outside the classroom – in sport, music, drama, or adventurous pursuits.
“As a non-selective school, we are proud of all our students and look forward to supporting them with their next steps, whether they are coming back to KWC for Sixth Form, or continuing their education elsewhere.”
