Late Night Call For Peel Lifeboat

Peel’s lifeboat launched late on Saturday night after a request to assist a boat in difficulty.

The RIB was travelling from the Isle of Arran to the Isle of Man when its last known position was recorded eight nautical miles north of Peel.

Coxswain Chloe Spooner commanded the all-weather lifeboat, which located the RIB despite it having drifted slightly and the volunteer crew reached the boat within 17 minutes.

Sea conditions were mild and visibility good. The three casualties were found safe and well, all wearing lifejackets.

A tow was quickly established and once near Peel breakwater, the RIB was brought alongside the lifeboat and guided through the flap gate into Peel Inner Harbour and marina, where shore crew waited to assist with mooring.

The service marked the first shout for Coxswain Chloe Spooner.

Peel Lifeboat urged all leisure boaters during the summer months and TT week to check vessels, equipment and fuel supply before setting off.
