Leeming Sets New Record on Way to Gold

Corrin Leeming stormed to the men’s 10,000 gold at the Island Games, setting a new record along the way.

Going one better than the silver he won in Guernsey, Leeming became the first person to crack the 30 minute mark at an Island Games.

Having lapped the rest of the field, he charged home to secure the island’s sixth gold medal so far.

David Griffiths of manxathletics.com said: “What an incredible run from Corrin Leeming to become the first man in Island Games history to crack the 30-minute barrier for 10,000 metres!

“It was almost a replica of Christa Cain’s display yesterday and is also one of the finest displays of distance running ever seen at the Island Games.”
