The Family Library is appealing for help to prevent it from closing this summer.
This includes all of its services, the Children’s Library, Mobile Bus, Home Delivery Service and Bibliotherapy.
Director Kurt Roosen announced the planned closure on July 31, citing rising costs and declining income.
“The deficit in operational funding is of the order of £100,000 each year,” he said. “The Directors have decided this is no longer tenable.”
The closure comes in the 100th anniversary year of rural library services on the Isle of Man.

The charity is urging the public to take action to save its services including contacting MHKs, fundraising, donating to the library, or becoming a “Friend of the Family Library” through Patreon.
The library has also shared its bank details for direct donations.

The Family Library has served the community for 14 years, with Mr Roosen thanking users and benefactors for their support.
