The Lieutenant Governor Sir John Lorimer has confirmed that he will be be taking part in the 2024 MFX End-to-End Walk.
Last year, His Excellency flagged the race away at the Point of Ayre, however this year he’s decided to tackle the event head-on, as a competitor.
He confirmed his entry at a reception at Government House attended by May Hooper, Managing Director of race sponsors, MFX, together with members of the event’s organising committee.
End to End
The End to End takes place on September 15 and is is contested over an undulating 39.22-mile course.
The course weaves its way from the lighthouse on the north-east coast of the Island and finishes at The Sound, the most south- westerly point.
The race starts at 8am and competitors have 10 hours 30 minutes to complete the course. It is open to walkers of all abilities who are over 17 years old on the day of the race.
MFX Sponsorship
The race has been revitalised over the last couple of years by MFX, the Island-based international currency specialists, who have taken up a three-year main sponsorship of the event.
May Hooper, herself a seasoned competitor, said: “We are really looking forward to His Excellency joining us on the 2024 Walk, in what we hope will achieve record numbers of entrants.
“MFX were delighted with the turnout last year, but all the indications are that we will exceed the number of starters this September.
May Hooper, Managing Director of race sponsors, MFX
May continued: “If you’d like the challenge of walking from one end of the Island to the other in a convivial, well-organised event, this is undoubtedly the best way to go about it.
“As proud sponsors, MFX and the organising committee look forward to seeing you all on the start line”.
The closing date for entries for the 2024 MFX End to End Walk is September 1, and the registration fee is £35.
