Peel Lifeboat assisted in a search raised when an emergency signal alerted the Coastguard to a possible vessel in distress on Saturday.
Peel’s Shannon class lifeboat was launched just before 9am to investigate a signal from an Emergency Position Indicating Radio (EPIRB) located approximately 13 miles north-west from Peel.
A Coastguard helicopter from Prestwick was also used but it was later found to be a false alarm.
Jon Corlett, volunteer coxswain with Peel’s lifeboat, said: ‘Our crew members regularly train with other agencies to ensure we can work together safely and effectively in an emergency. Although this seemed to be a false alarm, we were satisfied that our operations with HM Coastguard helicopter crew went as smoothly as possible.’
