The House of Keys has further adjourned consideration of Legislative Council amendments to the Local Government Amendment Bill until April 28.
The move, proposed by DoI Minister Tim Crookall, allows for a meeting with northern authorities scheduled for March 30 to discuss the future of the Northern civic community site.
Mr Crookall told the House that the initial adjournment to March 24 was intended to allow a departmental update.
He said: “It was my intention today to move that motion. However, following further discussions, it is now my intention to seek a further adjournment.”
Mr Crookall added: “This meeting and the adjournment should give the department the time to assess the best way forward and to work through how best to navigate the complex situation and hopefully to achieve the best possible solution for all parties.”
