Locate Isle of Man Costs Nearly £650k

Locate Isle of Man cost taxpayers £647,896 in the last financial year while generating only £15,014 in income.

The Department for Enterprise disclosed the numbers in response to a Freedom of Information request, confirming that the bulk of Locate’s spending went on staff costs.

Wage expenditure alone reached £465,801, described in the response as “the total wage costs (inclusive of national insurance and superannuation costs)”.

A further £83,240 covered employee travel, accommodation and mileage, with £113,669 spent on supplies and services.

The division has been allocated £603,593 for the current 2025/26 financial year.

It sits within the Department for Enterprise’s Strategy & Policy Directorate and is funded entirely from the department’s annual revenue budget.

The FOI also confirmed the unit employs six staff, equating to 5.8 full‑time equivalents.
