Manx Care has secured a locum radiologist allowing it to resume its breast clinic from next week.
The health body said patients lists are being reviewed, and “we will be calling patients to confirm that their referral has been received by the team”.
A spokesperson added: “If you are experiencing any worsening or new symptoms since your referral, please contact your GP practice.
“For further queries, or if you need more information/symptom advice, please contact the Breast Care Nurse on +44 1624 650194, or MCALS on +44 1624 642642. “
In a written answer this week, Health Minister Claire Christian said that as of April, there was a backlog of 325 radiology scans awaiting clinical reporting, with 30 of those scans classified as “breaches” due to delays beyond the target maximum time for reporting.
Despite these challenges, she said that waiting times for appointments have not been affected by the introduction of new reporting standards.
Ms Chritian added: To manage this backlog the use of teleradiology, which means that scans can be assessed by clinicians remotely, has been stepped up.
“I am also pleased to report that a newly appointed radiologist is due to start in May 2025. This appointment will help to ensure that there will be improvements to imaging turnaround times for patients suspected to have breast cancer.”
