Manannan Running on Reduced Power

The Steam Packet says a problem with the Manannan’s control systems has left it running on three engines.

Manannan re-entered service on the Liverpool, Belfast and Dublin routes last week following its routine winter overhaul and maintenance schedule.

Apologising for the issue, the company said its crews, engineers and the control system manufacturer have been “working round the clock to restore full power to the vessel by a process of systematic testing and fault finding”.

A spokesperson said: “In the meantime Manannan is safely able to operate on three engines, but will be operating slightly slower than usual, meaning there may be an increase in crossing times until the situation is resolved.

“Passengers on any sailings affected will be contacted via text or email to inform them of any changes to plans. Where changes mean passengers are unable to travel on their original bookings, full refunds or amends will be made free of charge.”

Manannan is due to sail from Liverpool at 8:15pm this evening, about an hour behind schedule.
