Manx Care is continuing to plan for potential disruption as a result of the British Medical Association’s (BMA) planned Industrial Action.
The scheduled industrial action is from 7am on Wednesday (January 22) to 7am on Friday (January 24).
A final decision regarding the Industrial Action is expected later today (January 20).
Cancellations
Manx Care says it is working to ensure minimal disruption to services and patient care.
All planned doctor-led appointments will be cancelled during the scheduled strike, whilst the majority of nurse- and practitioner-led clinics will continue.
If your appointment is going to be cancelled, you will be informed by Manx Care no later than Tuesday at 3pm.
If you have not heard from Manx Care to cancel your appointment, attend as normal.

Plans
Hospital Outpatient Appointments
The majority of nurse- and practitioner-led clinics will continue.
Antenatal Appointment
Scans will continue as normal, however Consultant appointments will be rearranged.
Operation or Procedure
If your appointment is going to be cancelled, you will be informed by Manx Care no later than Tuesday at 3pm.
Renal Dialysis
Renal Dialysis is currently scheduled to go ahead as planned.
GP Practices & Dental Practices
GP practices will largely operate as normal. However, some may experience reduced cover, and Ballasalla Group Practice is expected to face disruptions.
Diabetes Centre
Doctor appointments will be cancelled.
Cancer and Diagnostic Services
Chemotherapy services will continue.
Emergency Services
Emergency services are operating as normal, and you should continue to call 999 in the event of an emergency or attend the Emergency Department if required.
Ramsey Minor Injuries and Illnesses Unit:
MIU will be open and will have imaging capacity available.
Changes
Some patients have already received communication regarding cancellations of their appointments.
If the situation changes and the industrial action does not go ahead, Manx Care will endeavour to contact affected patients by the end of Tuesday to reinstate appointments where possible.
The health care providers operational planning remains focused on maintaining patient safety and minimising disruption.
Manx Care will provide a further update once a decision is confirmed.
