A group of young people from the Isle of Man were recently honoured at the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award Celebration at Buckingham Palace.
Achieving Gold requires over a year of commitment, including volunteering, physical activity, skill development, a challenging expedition, and a residential experience.

Daphne Caine MHK, Minister for Education, Sport and Culture, said: “These young people have not only achieved something remarkable, but have also grown in character, leadership, and life skills.

The following people were recognised at the Palace for their achievement:
- Castle Rushen High School: Jasper Blackford, Hana Bridson, James Carcas, Matty Gorry, Louise Laisney, Theo Mackie, Lisa Martin, Sam Mitchell, Lucy Sutterby
- Independent Group: Bree Cassidy, Sarah Harris, Stella Karezi, Christoforos Karezis, Tom Leach, Edan Smith, Thomas Watterson
- Isle of Man Explorers: David Cowin
Their achievements follow last month’s local celebrations, where nearly 300 young people received their Bronze and Silver Awards at the Gaiety Theatre in Douglas.
