Manx athletes have been on great Marathon form this weekend in different parts of the globe.
Ed Gumbley, formerly of Onchan and resident in Hong Hong for the past decade, clocked an excellent time of 2:45:11 in the Taipei Marathon, finishing 95th overall out of more than 8,000 competitors, and 25th in the Men’s 40-49 category (Ed is currently 48).
Ed represented the Isle of Man four times at the Island Games, winning a bronze medal in the Half Marathon in Bermuda in 2013.

Meanwhile, Kevin Deakes travelled to Spain to contest the Malaga Marathon, and subject to ratification he has set a new Isle of Man record time for the men’s 60 age group with 3:25:19.
This beats Rob Webb’s record, set at Ramsey in 2011, by the narrow margin of 17 seconds.
Christa Cain’s brother Tom Murray ran his debut marathon also in Malaga at the weekend in 2:47:25 along with Joe Walters who did the half in 1:19:54.
