Manxman on Tour

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company celebrated one year of the Manxman by going for a cruise round the south of the island.

Manxman played host to multiple sports teams, charities and food and drink vendors at the weekend as part of its celebration of all things Manx.

Under the charge of Senior Master Andy Atkinson she headed south out of Douglas harbour and let guests take in the views of Port St Mary, the Calf of Mann, before stopping in Port Erin.

Our colleague at Energy FM went along for the cruise and spoke to several organisations who have been supported by the ferry company:

As well as clubs and charities, the Steam Packet also invited local producers to showcase their produce on the day that should’ve been DEFA’s Food and Drink Festival.

Amongst the vendors was Rob Matson of Ventosus Micro Winery who was showcasing his wines on board the islands flagship vessel.

Rob said: “It’s been amazing actually. We weren’t sure how the day would go. It’s been brilliant.”

Foraging Vintners also had a presence on the cruise, one of the company’s directors Mary-Beth Coll said:

“For us its been really great, the Manxman has been really supportive of our wines having them in the gift shop and we are working with them to see if we can actually have it on board in the bar areas.’

Due to laws in Manx waters it wasn’t possible for the bar on the ship to sell alcohol, but luckily for us, there was nothing stopping these brilliant local talents giving tasters away for free.
